DETAILS

The workshop initiates the discussion on equity, diversity, and inclusion in, among, and between our communities, our institutions, and in our lives so that we can all practice relational power to make the changes we desire in our community. CORE's facilitated workshops are for everyone from differing backgrounds and perspectives seeking a social justice framework with a shifting power pedagogy as is the hallmark of CORE’s approach to creating transformative change. This will be reflected in the topics covered in racial equity fundamentals and may include: 1. Build a shared language and developing an understanding of key concepts around race, racism, and racial equity 2. Introspective examination of the cycles of socialization and liberation to explore the ways we are socialized 3. Build a shared history and an understanding of historical root causes to acknowledge the historical impact of existing disparities in our institutions and systems today and where public health fits in the system 4. Develop a beginning framework around interconnecting systems and how to create change within those systems 5. Create a baseline systems-thinking approach to addressing health disparities Racial Equity Fundamentals workshop consists of four (4) interactive modules over the course of the full-day workshop. Lunch and light breakfast will be provided.
